It’s important to know the Best Sports Podcasts. There just isn’t much good on TV. The odd episode of an enjoyable sitcom a few times a week, or a rerun you’ve seen 100 hundreds are about the only options. Sure, there are plenty of good movies out, but that’s a significant investment of time. One of the most underutilized forms of entertainment is the podcast. Always new, due to their relative ease of productive, podcasts are an awesome way to stay entertained constantly if you have ADD like I do. In between classes on campus, throw your headphones on and listen to some analysis. Mind numbing data entry at work? Podcast time. Relaxing to play some Madden or 2k13 after a long day but still want to be doing something halfway productive? Podcasts! Due to several circumstance of my day-to-day living, I end up listening to a large quantity of these informational and entertaining audio shows. To help you out on the path of podcasting, here are the Best Sports Podcasts.
The great basketball podcast hosted by J.E Skeets and Tas Melas, with help from Trey Kerby and Leigh Ellis is the most informative and entertaining basketball podcast. Skeets and Tas really know and understand the game, but what makes TBJ so great is all of the quality laughs. Just in the last month alone, there was milk chugging, an adult male in a diaper, an Australian opening packs of basketball cards and plenty of other highlights. A daily show ranging around 40ish minutes, the true gem is Friday’s Overdose podcast, an hour or longer of some of the best basketball analysis on the planet.
Rumford Johnny and Ryan Forbes host what is easily the most entertaining fantasy football podcast. With all of the information that is out there about fantasy football and all of the hundreds of fantasy football podcasts, it is definitely important to not waste your time listening to boring guys point out obvious information. That is not at all what 2 Mugs is about. Ryan and Johnny are normally joined by another member of the fantasy industry as they cover everything you need to know for the upcoming week. Done with a cavalier attitude, this is easily my favorite weekly fantasy show.

It doesn’t really get more informative than this. Featuring shows on the waiver wire, weekly previews, news and notes, IDP, the NFL Draft and much more, the Audible is the premier podcast for NFL information. Sigmund Bloom, Cecil Lammey, Matt Waldman and the Dr. Jene Bramel form a crack team of fantasy football informers and will assure you a more solid performance in your league. Finding time to listen to all of their shows in one week can end up being difficult, but is very important if you want to really understand the game of fantasy football on a deeper level and truly improve your performance.
I know, I know, alot of you are fed up with hockey, or aren’t fans to begin with; but, as hockey turns back from the lockout and viewing options that aren’t an episode of Girls begin decreasing, I know that personally, I’ll be watching hockey again. For me, to properly enjoy a sport, I need to be properly informed. Eddie and Doug at the Puck Podcast have you got covered there. I tried a few different podcasts the last season, but The Puck Podcast was the only one that stuck. If you are playing in a fantasy hockey league this year, or just want to learn more about the sport, this is where you need to go.
What makes internet discussion of sports so awesome is all of the snark. Zach Harper turns Eye On Basketball into twitter in podcast form. All of the intelligence, with twice the snark! Harper and Matt Moore discuss the weeks storylines, the nights games, and all of the pertinent information. If any of you follow Harper on Twitter, you already know how snarky and awesome he can be. If you want to know whats up in the NBA, check out Harper.
Honorable mention: While ESPN generally produces terrible television, the Tony Kornheiser podcast, and both the football and baseball Fantasy Focus shows are worth listening too. Both of the Baseball America and Fangraphs podcasts are really good and informative. The Baseball Show with Rany and Joe is one of the best baseball podcasts out there. Rany Jayzerli and Joe Sheenan are two of the best baseball minds out there and make the podcast very informative.
